Rachel, a notable crime and law enforcement journalist, is just trying to get her life back together. Her husband left, her home is under the thumb of a mistress, and a sadistic media monopoly bought her newspaper, leaving her jobless. In desperation, she auditions for the monopoly's hottest new reality show. What was advertised as a competition about true crime quickly becomes dangerous. The seemingly unconnected group of contestants must use their knowledge of true crimes past to not only pursue the prize, but to stay alive. Each challenge brings Rachel closer to the truth that binds them, the truth she thought she left behind long ago.

This novel asks one key question:

in a world that values sensations, scandals, and shock, what is the path forward?
